  The teacher understands how pupils differ in their approaches to learning and the barriers that impede learning and can adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with disabilities and exceptionalities.

   This means:
   
  • I understand that students have different learning styles.
  • I design instruction that helps use students’ strengths as the basis for their growth and learning.
  • I believe that all children can learn at high levels.
  • I persist in helping all children achieve success.
  • I am effective in adapting instruction to accommodate students with exceptional educational needs.
  • I know about strategies to support the learning of students whose first language is not English.
