ALIGNMENT REFLECTION
Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment

This artifact primarily addresses Standard 9: Reflective. This was a practice of self-reflection and self-assessment in my professional learning. Additionally, it is an example of how I seek out resources to support my own development as a learner and a teacher.

This artifact secondarily addresses Standard 2: Development; Standard 4: Strategies; and Standard 6: Communication. Reflecting on the body of this journal, I was able to critically evaluate my responses to certain situations, and develop increased awareness to similar occurrences in the future. New strategies were developed as a result.

UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment

I believe this artifacts best aligns with KSD4a. Reflects on Teaching. I was able to basically relive my teaching experiences while reading my journal entries and reflecting on the activities of each day.

This alignment secondarily addresses the following KDS Standards:
1. KSD4e. Grows and Develops Professionally

PERSONAL REFLECTION
What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience:
I learned that keeping a journal is quite an effective tool in allowing me to reflect openly and honestly on my teaching. It seemed most effective when I analyzed my entries at least a month after the entry was made, as I became more distant from the situation and found myself to be more objective in my self-analysis.
What I learned about myself as an educator as a result of this experience/artifact:
I learned that I need to be more willing to accept such activities as journal-keeping as an effective tool for growth. I first questioned the value of the time it took to make the journal entries. I found afterwards that the little time it took to jot a few sentences about the day paid off greatly by allowing a tool for self-reflection and improvement.
