| DESCRIBE
ARTIFACT |
This artifact is a district required Common Writing Assessment each teacher has been asked to conduct on a specified group of his or her students. This year, elective teachers were included in the writing task and method of evaluating students' writing skills. Together with the other Tech Ed teacher, we came up with the writing prompt and rubric for evaluation.

What
I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: |
I learned that students don't always read the instructions! Along with the other Tech Ed teacher, a paper was written that I felt had very clear instructions. The students were asked to write a 1-2 page paper, and were given five questions to address within the body of the paper. The instruction specifically states that there should be know yes or no answers on the paper, but that the questions were simply prompts. I was quite disappointed with how many students in that first class did not follow those instructions. |

What
I learned about myself as an educator as a result of
this experience/artifact: |
I learned to take the time to go over all the instructions with the students at this level. I think I sort of forgot that inasmuch as the students complete their work independently in the modular environment within which I have been teaching for the past seven years. |
