Teacher Standard Alignment |

This
artifact primarily addresses Standard 5: Environment. I believe
this to be the primary artifact of focus because it is the
total environment that determines success of management within
the classroom. My plan incorporates individual and group motivation
and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages
positive social interaction, active engagement in learning,
and self-motivation.
This
artifact secondarily addresses Standard 3: Diversity; Standard
4: Strategies; Standard 6: Communication; and Standard 7:
Planning. The Classroom Management Plan includes the sub-sections
Physical Environment, Behavior Management, Parent Communication,
and Instructional Planning and Delivery. |

Alignment |
|
|
I
believe this artifacts best aligns with KSD2b: Establishes
a Culture for Learning. Without a clear cut plan of management
for the classroom, an atmosphere for learning can be far from
conducive. The culture is adopted through deliberate planning,
and the conveying of expectations to the students.
This
alignment secondarily addresses the following KDS Standards:
1. KSD2a. Creates an Environment of Respect and Rapport
2. KSD2c. Manages Classroom Procedures
3. KSD2d. Manages Student Behavior
4. KSD2e. Organizes Physical Space

What
I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: |
|
|
My management plan continues
to be revised from year to year. Since my first year in the
Technology lab, I have modified parts of my plan for better
management, and to make expectations more and more clear to
the students. I learned to set goals of achievement that must
be reached before students are allowed free time for the remainder
of the rotation. While this free time was once a time of constant
need for monitoring behavior, it is now the "easiest"
time to sit back and help those students who continue to need
extra assistance. |

What
I learned about myself as an educator as a result of
this experience/artifact: |
|
|
What I learned about myself through the continual revision and modification of my classroom management plan is that I seem am always learning about what tools effectively work in motivating my students and keeping them on task. This ability to motivate students to do their best and set high but reachable goals for themselves gets easier as time passes, as students continue to teach me through their responses to my prompts. I've come to believe also that I'm a natural teacher. One that can adapt her style to meet the continually changing needs of my students. I proudly state that I am able to most often concentrate on the curriculum and not have to be preoccupied with discipline.
