Wisconsin
Teacher Standard Alignment |
|
|
This
artifact primarily addresses Standard 3: Diversity. I believe
this is the primary standard addressed because the subject
of the research paper involves creating gender equity in technology.
Overcoming diversity is the goal in creating equitable population
represention in the technology field.
This
artifact secondarily addresses Standard 1: Content; Standard
2: Development; Standard 4: Strategies, and Standard 5: Environment.
Through research I gained additional knowledge of my content
area of technology. In the writing of the paper, I acquired
insight in affectively breaking down a project to make the
final result more thorough and well-constructed. I was able
to build on my knowledge of the strategies involved in teaching
the student by breaking a large project down into smaller
parts. Research also provided me with information on the importance
of a welcoming environment that would appeal to both genders
within an otherwise male-dominated field. |

Alignment |
|
|
I
believe this artifacts best aligns with KSD2a. Creates an
Environment of Respect and Rapport. I believe this is the
primary KSD addressed, because the process of following my
own suggestions for gender equity would create an inviting
classroom to ALL.
This
alignment secondarily addresses the following KDS Standards:
1. KSD4a. Reflects on Teaching
2. KSD4e. Grows and Develops Professionally
3. KSD4f. Shows Professionalism

What
I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: |
|
|
I had an excellent professor in this class (Research Methodology)
that taught me not only HOW to write a formal research paper,
but also demonstrated excellent skills I have adapted in my
own teaching. Dr. Cho gave us step-by-step task for developing
a well thought out plan for our papers. We created a first
proposal for our research and developed it into a more in-depth
second proposal. As a result, the final proposal was well
developed and persuasive. I've learned to break down large
projects with my students in a similar fashion. |

|
|
|
What
I learned about myself as an educator as a result of
this experience/artifact: |
|
|
Through the process of writing
this research paper, I learned first HOW to write this type
of research paper with the necessary components for applying
for a grant to continue research on this topic. With the PowerPoint
presentation and the process of following the presentation guidelines,
I feel I could now transfer the knowledge gained to any topic
that warrants further study, with the desired result being that
of societal change for the benefit of all. I found that I have
the tools to be a leader in my field and perhaps develop my
skills to the doctorate level, at which point I could head up
such studies. |
