Alignment |
|
|
I
believe this artifacts best aligns with KSD3e: Demonstrates
Flexibility and Responsiveness. By offering students an alternative
to the regular modular rotation, I am demonstrating flexibility.
The development of this activity was in direct response to
the observation that students occasionally lacked interest
in certain specific strands of technology while engaging completely
in others.
This
alignment secondarily addresses the following KDS Standards:
1. KSD1b. Demonstrates Knowledge of Students
2. KSD1d. Demonstrates Knowledge of Resources
3. KSD1e. Designs Coherent Instruction
4. KSD1f. Assesses Student Learning
5. KSD2a. Creates an Environment of Respect and Rapport

What
I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: |
|
|
I learned a great deal from
my classmates during the creation of this activity. Most of
the class members were teachers of special education, and
I enjoyed viewing the educational environment through their
eyes. The specific strategies and activities that were shared
have been wonderful, as I feel I have a greater bank of resources
to draw from while trying to find something that will satisfy
a student having difficulty in comprehending a concept. |
|
|
|
|
What
I learned about myself as an educator as a result of
this experience/artifact: |
|
|
I learned that I am much more
accommodating to the special needs of our students than many
regular education teachers, according to the dialog shared between
my colleagues while taking the class within which this activity
was created. On the other hand, I do believe I was beginning
to develop a hint of skepticism with the level of assistance
some special learners seemed to be receiving. I consider myself
"set straight" again, and welcome any accommodating
ideas for meeting the special needs of my students in the future. |
